Creating new tracks

Adding Tracks

To add a new track, choose Insert Audio Track from the Session menu. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl/⌘+T. A new track will appear before the selected track or as the last track if no track is selected.

Removing Tracks

To remove a track, click the track you want to remove in the multitrack editor to select it. Then choose Delete Track from the Session menu. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl+Alt+T on Windows or ⌘+Option+T on Mac.

Track Name and Color

You can rename the track by clicking the name and entering a new name.

Each track also has a color assigned and you can click the colored rectangle to the left of the track title to change the color.

A color picker shows up where you can choose a new track color:

Track Settings

You can change the volume and see the current playback level directly from the track pane on the left side in the multitrack editor.

The track pane with volume, pan and send level controls as well as level metering and record, solo, mute and processing chain buttons.

The buttons are labeled in the above image as follows:

1. The Record button

   Click to arm the track for recording, or click the dropdown arrow to choose from the available settings.

2. The Solo and Mute buttons

   To listen to only this track, select the Solo button. Click Mute to mute the audio from this track

3. The Processing Chain button

   Opens the Processing Chain for the track. For more information see The Processing Chain

4. The Track Level meters

   The meters show the level for only their track.

Track Processing Chains

The Processing Chain button opens the processing chain window for the track. Adding processors here will apply them to track as track inserts. See The Processing Chain for more information.

Add processors here to mix a track so that it fits well within the context of your multitrack session. You may for example compress a vocal or remove some muddy frequencies from a guitar track. Changes made to the processes in this location will affect only their respective track.

In the above image we can see that Track 1 has a Dynamics processor and an Equalize 2 processor as its inserts.

Working in Surround

You can create multitrack sessions for surround and immersive formats in Acoustica Premium Edition (up to 10 channels / 7.1.2) and Acoustica Ultimate Edition (up to 16 channels / 9.1.6). The pan controls are substituted with surround pan controls if choose a surround format as rendering format when you create your multitrack session. See Creating A Multitrack Session for information on how to do so.

Surround format pan control

Multitrack sessions targeting surround formats show a surround pan control instead of the rotary pan slider.

Click the surround pan control indicated by the red arrow above to adjust the surround pan. A large surround pan controller appears:

You can grab the circular pan handle with the mouse and position it freely in the 2D space. It is also possible to enable or disable single channel output by clicking the loudspeaker icons or the wave icon representing the LFE (Low-Frequency Effects) channel. The LFE channel is disabled by default.
