Snapping Clips to the Beat

When you drag a clip in a multitrack session, Acoustica can snap it to the beat grid so that it lands exactly in time rather than a few milliseconds early or late. The grid is derived from the tempo and time signature set in the Session Properties.

Choose the snap resolution from the Snap sub menu in the Edit menu:

• No Snap

  Clips move freely and are positioned exactly where you release them. Use this for dialogue, sound effects and any material that is not on a grid.

• Snap to Quarters

  Clips snap to quarter notes — one beat in a 4/4 session.

• Snap to Eights

  Clips snap to eighth notes, that is half a beat.

• Snap to Sixteenths

  Clips snap to sixteenth notes, that is a quarter of a beat.

Snapping applies while you move a clip, and also while you loop or stretch one by dragging its right hand border (see Looping and Stretching Clips). It is the quickest way to build a session from loops: set the session tempo, choose Snap to Quarters, and every loop you drag in lands on the beat.
