Ableton Live¶
In Ableton Live, ARA plug-ins are not supported. We can, however, set Acoustica 8 as the default sample editor for Ableton Live. By doing so, we can select Edit on an audio clip to open it directly inside Acoustica 8.

You can Undo your changes within Acoustica, but Ableton will not keep any history of your changes.
Step-by-step guide¶
For this guide, we assume that you have set up an Ableton session with an audio file present on an audio track.
If you are unsure how to do so, please refer to the Ableton Live manual and user guides.
-
Open Ableton's settings:
- On Mac, press ⌘+, or go to Live > Settings from the top bar menu
- On Windows, press Ctrl+, or go to Options > Preferences
-
Choose File & Folder from the left side tabs. Now select Browse beside Sample Editor as shown below. Navigate to your Acoustica installation and select it.

-
Now double click the audio region that you would like to edit to open Ableton's edit window. From the left side controls, find the Audio category and click the Edit button shown below.

-
Make your edits and changes in Acoustica as normal. When you are happy with your edits, Save them to update the file.
