Using Remix:Drums

Remix:Drums uses a mixer layout to display and control the six drum stem outputs: Kick, Snare, Hi-Hat, Cymbals, Toms, and Other.

Mixer Settings

Remix:Drums single channel

  • Stem Gain (dB)

The faders set the output level for each drum stem in decibels. The output level for each stem is shown in the level meter to the right of the corresponding fader. You can enter exact dB values numerically by clicking the numerical entry field below the fader.

  • Solo (S) and Mute (M)

Drum stems can be auditioned in isolation by clicking the S (Solo) button, or silenced entirely by clicking the M (Mute) button.

  • Stem Pan (%)

You can control the panning of each drum stem output independently using the stem pan sliders. Pan values can be entered numerically in percent by clicking the numerical entry below the slider.

  • Sensitivity (%)

You can control the sensitivity of the drum stem signal detection independently for each drum type. Higher values lead to more signal being detected: positive values increase naturalness at the cost of additional spill, while negative values reduce spill at the cost of possible artifacts. It is recommended to start at 0% — at which the neural network operates as trained — and then adjust according to preference.

Multi-channel Output of Stems

Some plug-in formats (such as AAX or VST3) and host DAWs support multiple outputs from a single plug-in. This gives you the opportunity to use the six stems of Remix:Drums — Kick, Snare, Hi-Hat, Cymbals, Toms, and Other — as separate inputs to multiple tracks or aux returns for individual real-time processing.

The exact process varies by DAW, but can be found by checking your DAWs documentation for 'Multi-Output Plug-ins'

Generally, you will create an Aux or Return track in your DAW, and then set its input as plug-in > Acon Remix:Drums — [track name] — Insert [x] > Kick / Snare / Hi-Hat / Cymbals / Toms / Other

Note

The individual stem outputs are always active, independent of the Gain, Solo, and Mute settings in the Remix:Drums plug-in window. Only the Sensitivity control has an impact on the stem audio.

Presets

A number of presets are provided to help speed up your workflow. Click the Preset bar to open the menu as shown below.

Select the preset you would like to use by clicking the name of the preset. You can also save and load your own user presets from the preset manager in the header section.
