How to play a recording

There are several ways to play a recording. You can choose to play the whole recording, a selection of the recording, or toggle looped playback mode.

Play buttons

Play from Cursor Position

Play from Cursor Position will generally be what most users are familiar with, and is a good default option. This is the default play mode for most DAWs.

Press the Spacebar to play from the cursor position. Alternatively, click on the down arrow on the right side of the play button in the navigation toolbar to reveal the hidden options and select Play selection or choose Play under Audio on to the main menu.

Play Selection without Filtering (Spectral Mode)

If you are in the spectral editing mode (see Spectral Editing), Acoustica plays the filtered audio per default. You can play the same time range without filtering.

Press Alt/⌥ + Spacebar to play the audio without filtering. Alternatively, click on the down arrow on the right side of the play button in the navigation toolbar to reveal the hidden options and select Play without Filtering. You can also choose Play without Filtering under Audio on to the main menu.

Play All

Play All will play the audio file from the beginning, regardless of the position of the cursor/playhead.

Press Shift + Spacebar to start playback from the beginning of the audio file. Alternatively, click on the down arrow on the right side of the play button in the navigation toolbar to reveal the hidden options and select Play all or choose Play all under Audio on to the main menu.

Play at Half Speed

Play at Half Speed will play the audio file from the cursor location.

Press Ctrl + Alt + Spacebar (Windows) or Ctrl + Option + Spacebar (Mac) to play audio at half speed. Alternatively, click on the down arrow on the right side of the play button in the navigation toolbar to reveal the hidden options and select Play at Half Speed or choose Play at Half Speed under Audio on to the main menu.

The Play Looped Toggle

You can choose whether or not the selection should be played looped. To toggle the loop mode, click loop icon in the toolbar. Alternatively, you can choose Play Looped under Audio on to the main menu or use Ctrl/⌘ + Spacebar.

Stopping playback

To stop the playback press Spacebar, use the stop button in the navigation toolbar. Alternatively, you can choose Stop under Audio on to the main menu.
