The Waveform View Settings

The waveform view has its own set of view settings, in the same way the spectral editing mode does (see The Spectrogram View Settings).

Click the cog button () in the bottom right of the clip editor while the waveform view is active. The Waveform View Settings window appears.

The different settings are described below:

• Selection grid

  Draws a grid inside the selected time range that divides it into equal parts, which makes it easy to cut a selection at a musically meaningful point. You can choose No grid, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/6 or 1/8. A selection with a 1/4 grid setting active is shown below.

  

• Illegal value range

  Shows or hides a shaded band at the top and the bottom of the waveform marking the range above 0 dBFS. Since Acoustica works internally in 32 bit floating point, samples can exceed full scale without being clipped; this band shows you where that has happened and where the signal would clip if the file were saved at a lower resolution.

• Zero line

  Shows or hides the horizontal line at zero amplitude in each channel.

• Grid horizontal lines

  Shows or hides the horizontal grid lines in the waveform display.

• Grid vertical lines

  Shows or hides the vertical grid lines in the waveform display.
